SEPTEMBER 2014

On 27th September, the George IV pub in Lichfield hosted an evening with The Madeline Rust and Friends. The venue was dark and atmospheric, with non-stop Spaghetti Western trailers lighting up the dancefloor, as vinyl-only DJs Steve Yates and Chris McGranaghan spun their mighty 7”s. They gave us everything from Public Enemy to Peter Parker’s Rock N Roll Club - from Television to Toots and the Maytals - from Sun Ra to September Girls.
After screening the Desert Rain video to a packed room, The Madeline Rust gave a live performance of Truth or Consequences, joined onstage for the second time by additional musicians Clara Pascall on cello, Gerallt Ruggiero on guitar, and backing singers Callum McNab and Alison Taylor.

As the performance came to an end, Steve Yates fired up the turntables once again with the Flying Burrito Brothers’ ‘Close Up The Honky Tonks’, and the festivities continued into the early hours.

We had a fantastic time, and would like to thank everything involved, especially Steve and Chris for their fabulous choice of tunes, to everyone at the George IV for their hospitality, and to everyone who came down and made this the event it was.

We look forward to visiting Lichfield again on 21st November, when we will be playing at the Guildhall as part of a festival presented by Lichfield Arts. Tickets and more details can be found here.
